Une peau épaisse

Une peau épaisse explores the moment when one wishes one's skin had been thicker, a shield against the outside world. It would have helped to withstand a psychological ordeal and protect oneself from it.  For this project, the photographer invited models to talk about a painful event in their past. These memories were recorded on loose-leaf paper, which will be made available to the public or kept secret according to the participants' wishes. The photographer then assigned each participant an artificial skin, which will grow in the future as a metaphorical healing of the painful event.

This series delves into the meandering minds of photographic models who engage in a restorative act. The photographer limited her instruction to the participant to give space to the model to drive the restorative experience on their own terms, at the same time questioning the relationship between photographer and model, which here requires absolute trust.
